- Corvette Wave | Palm Springs Corvettes
For generations, Corvette owners have acknowledged one another with a friendly salute as they pass on the road. It is more than a gesture; it is a symbol of camaraderie, pride, and membership in a very special community of enthusiasts who appreciate America's Sports Car. Corvette Wave Save the Wave! Ever since Corvette No. 00001 first crossed paths with Corvette No. 00002, Corvette drivers have shared a simple but meaningful tradition — the Corvette Wave. For generations, Corvette owners have acknowledged one another with a friendly salute as they pass on the road. It is more than a gesture; it is a symbol of camaraderie, pride, and membership in a very special community of enthusiasts who appreciate America's Sports Car. Unfortunately, this grand tradition seems to be fading in some circles. Let's keep it alive. Wave when you see another Corvette! The New Owner Experience One of the most unexpected features included with every Corvette isn't listed on the window sticker or owner's manual. It arrives the first time another Corvette driver lifts a hand in greeting as you pass by. The typical reactions are: "Do they think I'm a famous race driver?" "Are my headlights on?" "Was that a wave... or something else entirely?" Soon enough, however, every new Corvette owner learns the joy of spotting another Corvette on the road. Before long they begin experimenting with different techniques: The enthusiastic full-arm greeting. The cool and collected two-finger salute. The casual steering-wheel wave. The perfectly timed nod of acknowledgment. Most eventually develop a backup plan for those awkward moments when a wave isn't returned: "Oh, I wasn't waving. I was just scratching my head." ` This explanation becomes especially useful when you're driving your daily driver and instinctively wave at a passing Corvette anyway. The Traffic Light Dilemma Passing Corvettes traveling in opposite directions is easy enough — wave, smile, and continue on your way. But what happens when you pull alongside another Corvette at a traffic light? You wave. They wave. The light changes. Then one block later, you meet again at the next signal. Do you wave again? Offer a nod? Smile awkwardly? Pretend you're fascinated by the radio? Turn down a side street to avoid the social pressure? Unfortunately, Corvette etiquette has never fully answered this mystery. Some questions simply remain unsolved. The Ladies of Corvette Women Corvette owners occasionally face their own version of the wave dilemma. Should they wave first and risk appearing overly enthusiastic? Or should they wait and risk being mistaken for ignoring the tradition? Fortunately, Corvette culture has always made room for individual style and personality. New owners, occasional missed waves, and momentary distractions are easily forgiven. The Unforgivable Offense There is, however, one thing difficult to excuse: The intentional non-wave. Not the driver who simply didn't see you. Not the owner learning the ropes. But the driver who chooses not to acknowledge a fellow Corvette enthusiast out of indifference or arrogance. Occasionally you'll encounter owners who only wave to newer models, or only to cars from their own generation. That's unfortunate. The Corvette community was built by owners of every generation — from solid axle classics to the newest mid-engine marvels. Every Corvette deserves a wave. The Five Official Corvette Wave Rules Rule #1 There is no good excuse for ignoring a fellow Corvette owner. Missing a wave happens. Choosing not to wave is a breach of proper Corvette etiquette. Rule #2 There is no rule about who waves first. If you see a Corvette... Wave. Rule #3 The rules apply equally to everyone. Men wave. Women wave. New owners wave. Veteran owners wave. Everyone waves. Rule #4 Any style of wave is acceptable. A hand through the roof opening, a quick salute from the steering wheel, a finger lift from the window sill, or an enthusiastic arm-over-the-door greeting all qualify. The only unacceptable gestures are those that might be mistaken for something less friendly. Remember, Corvette owners are supposed to be a class act. Rule #5 A late wave is still better than no wave. If you spot a Corvette owner waving after they've already passed, send your wave anyway. They just might catch it in the mirror. Keep the Tradition Alive The Corvette Wave is more than a greeting. It is respect for the generations of enthusiasts who came before us. It is recognition of a shared passion. It is membership in a community unlike any other in the automotive world. Whether the Corvette beside you is brand new or decades old, whether it's stock or modified, coupe or convertible, C1 or C8, remember the simple rule that has connected Corvette owners for over seventy years: See a Corvette... Wave at a Corvette... Save the Wave!

- Ron Fellows Driving School | Palm Springs Corvettes
For members of Palm Springs Corvettes looking to become better, safer, and more confident drivers, few experiences compare to attending the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, also known as the Corvette Owners School. Ron Fellows Driving School Ron Fellows Performance Driving School: The Ultimate Corvette Experience Why Every Corvette Owner Should Attend For members of Palm Springs Corvettes, there are few experiences that compare to attending the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, officially known as the Corvette Owners School. Whether you're a first-time Corvette owner or a lifelong enthusiast, this world-class program will make you a safer, more confident, and more skilled driver while allowing you to experience the incredible performance engineered into every Corvette. Located at the spectacular Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club in Pahrump, Nevada—just an hour west of Las Vegas—the school is Chevrolet's official high-performance driving experience for Corvette owners. Founded by Canadian racing legend Ron Fellows, whose career includes championships in Trans-Am, NASCAR, and international endurance racing, the program is designed to teach Corvette owners how to safely explore the full capabilities of their cars under the guidance of professional instructors. Whether you own a C8 Stingray, E-Ray, Z06, Grand Sport, Grand Sportx, ZR1, ZR1X, or another Corvette model, you'll leave with a greater appreciation for your car and the skills to drive it with confidence. Discover What Your Corvette Can Really Do One of the greatest benefits of the Corvette Owners School is that you don't drive your own Corvette. Instead, participants drive school-provided Corvettes that closely match the model they own, allowing them to experience the car's full performance without adding miles or wear to their personal vehicle. Even better, eligible new Corvette owners can attend the subsidized two-day Corvette Owners School for just $1,000—a remarkable value compared to the standard tuition of $3,695. Throughout the program, instructors gradually build each driver's skills through a series of carefully designed exercises that teach: Dynamic vehicle control Threshold braking Vision and scanning techniques Proper cornering lines Vehicle balance and weight transfer Passing etiquette High-performance driving fundamentals By the end of the course, most drivers discover their Corvette is capable of far more than they ever imagined—and they learn how to use those capabilities safely and confidently. Learn from the Best Instruction is provided by professional racing drivers and highly experienced performance coaches who tailor their teaching to each student's skill level. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with extensive behind-the-wheel training, including: Autocross competition High-speed braking exercises Accident-avoidance maneuvers Lead-follow track sessions Full-course lapping Vehicle dynamics instruction Performance Data Recorder (PDR) video analysis Instructor demonstration laps Serpentine handling exercises Students typically drive approximately 130 track miles during the Corvette Owners School, while advanced Level 2 participants often log nearly 200 miles of track time. The Spring Mountain facility itself is equally impressive, featuring multiple race circuits totaling nearly ten miles of available track, luxury accommodations, lakeside casitas, fine dining, and a beautiful clubhouse. Breakfast and lunch are included each day, making the entire experience feel more like a premium motorsports vacation than a traditional driving school. A Program for Every Driver Whether you're new to high-performance driving or looking to sharpen your skills, the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School offers programs for every experience level. Training opportunities include: Corvette Owners School Level 2 Performance Driving Open-lapping sessions Performance braking and shifting Competitive autocross Accident-avoidance training Instructor-led track sessions Performance Data Recorder coaching As Ron Fellows often reminds students, the goal isn't simply to drive faster—it's to become a smoother, safer, and more capable driver both on and off the racetrack. Skills That Last Long After the Checkered Flag Perhaps the greatest value of the school is that the lessons learned on the racetrack translate directly to safer and more confident driving on public roads. Many graduates return for advanced levels, track events, and reunions with fellow Corvette enthusiasts they met during the program. If you own a Corvette—or dream of owning one someday—the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School is more than a driving class. It is an investment in your skills, your safety, and your enjoyment of one of America's greatest sports cars. Classes, particularly for popular models such as the E-Ray and Grand Sport x often fill quickly. Owners can reserve their spot by registering their VIN through the school's website or by calling (800) 391-6891. Pro Tip If you truly want to become a better Corvette driver, attend the school. You will return with more confidence, more knowledge, and an even greater appreciation for what your Corvette can do.
