The price of a ticket is getting out of hand. It seems the state of California has decided to end its economic deficit by charging excessive and egregious amounts for tickets. I was reading the new traffic laws and one in particular struck me as incredible. If you don't get over in the next lane when you see emergency vehicles or slow down 20 miles per hour you could be given a ticket for $400+. I just happened to experience an HP ticketing a lowly KIA for speeding. I couldn't get over and the car behind me was not ready for me to slam on my brakes. I could have been ticketed, but fortunately, Mr. HP wasn't paying attention. A club member found out that running a photo controlled intersection can cost you over $500. Talking on a cell phone will get you a ticket for about $200. Speeding out in the rural country can cost you over $400. Blacked out taillights could cost you $500. Car pool violations can cost you $341 to $386 depending on the county you're in.
Who comes up with these prices? I guess if you are a state assemblyperson or state senator you don't mind since you have someone driving you around all the time.
The price of a laser blocker is looking better all the time. Move over radar detector, your cousin is about to move in.
